Zartman came to Bethel in the fall of 1994 as a part of the Pilot baseball team. During Seth's career on the field, he was able to rewrite the record books both in offensive and defensive categories. Seth graduated from Bethel four years later in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

After finishing his time on the field at BU, Seth went on to receive his master's degree in recreation and leisure science at Murray State University in 2001. Seth began his coaching career by starting his own program at Mid-Continent College in Mayfield, Kentucky. He spent four years at Mid-Continent College before heading back to Bethel to take over the head coaching job in 2004.
