Bethel University (Ind)

Nelson attended Bethel from 1970 to 1974 and was very intense as a guard on the basketball team. Outside of his work on the basketball court, he was also considered the best golfer in Bethel's history as he set the program's record for the lowest season and career average. 
 
Nelson won the Mishawaka City Golf Championship nine times and was the 1994 St. Joseph County Champion.
