Gabrielle Zeilenga hits NAIA 'B' Standard in the Pole Vault at Midwest Classic

MARION, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots competed in the Midwest Classic on Saturday, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan, and ended the meet with 12 NCCAA Standards and one NAIA 'B' Standard, held by Gabrielle Zeilenga in the Pole Vault.

Zeilenga placed second in the Pole Vault with a 3.60-meter mark, which is the exact cut-off for the NAIA 'B' Standard, then won the Long Jump with a 5.50-meter mark, which qualifies her for the NCCAA National Championship.

Vladlena Klymova qualified for the 60-hurdle final after placing fourth with a 9.60 and finished fourth in the final, matching her 9.60 time, an NCCAA Standard time. Klymova was also a part of the 4x400 relay team that won the event with a 4:07.77. Other members of the relay were Brianna Hooton, Gabrielle Zeilenga, and Luisana Alonso.

In the 60-meter, Nicanta Smith placed fifth in the prelim with an 8.01 and Hooton placed eighth with an 8.06 to both qualify for the final, where Smith placed fourth with an 8.04 and Hooton eighth in the final with an 8.13 and NCCAA Standards for both. Sydney Rodgers also hit the NCCAA Standard with her ninth-place 8.11 finish. Rodgers also had the NCCAA Standard in the 200-meter with a 27.23, 10th place finish.

In the mile, Hannah Frump placed seventh with a 5:31.27 to hit the NCCAA Standard and placed fifth in the 1,000-meter with a 3:09.59.

Anna Enderle took seventh in the 5,000-meter with an 18:46.15 and NCCAA Standard to round out the distance events.

In the mid-distance, Addison Curtis took ninth in the 800-meter with a 2:37.99 for a top-10 finish.

For the field events, Grace Conway placed fourth under teammate Zeilenga, with a 3.45-meter mark and the NCCAA Standard, Alecia Parker took third with a 13.31-meter mark and NCCAA Standard, Sydney Rice took sixth in the Shot Put with a 12.18-meter mark and NCCAA Standard, and  Ariel Manns placed ninth with a 1.50-meter mark in the High Jump and the NCCAA Standard.

The Pilots prepare for the NCCAA National Championship at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, from Friday, Feb. 7 to Saturday, Feb. 8.
