COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship found its conclusion on Friday, with the Bethel Pilots finishing fourth with 83 points under third-place Malone, runner-up Grace (Ind.), and champion Greenville (N.C.).
The Pilots held second, third, and fourth in the Pole Vault, with
Sophia Sumer taking the runner-up finish, clearing 3.65 meters on her second attempt,
Gabrielle Zeilenga taking third by clearing 3.65 meters on her third attempt, and
Grace Conway placing fourth by clearing 3.50 meters. Zeilenga also placed 10th in the 100-meter with a time of 15.74.
In the Javelin,
Sarah Brown finished sixth with a 33.34-meter throw, and
Holly Wykoff threw 33.03 meters for seventh place.
Vladlena Klymova placed third in the 400-hurdles with a 1:04.89, Nicanta Smith finished eighth in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, running a 12.68 and 26.33.
Brianna Hooton placed fifth in the 400-meter with a 59.32, and
Hannah Frump finished 11th in the 800-meter with a 2:22.54. Frump also placed fourth in the 1500-meter run with a 4:48.74.
Elaina Schwendenmann placed 10th in the 5,000 meters with a 19:45.07.
The 4x100 Relay team of
Sydney Rodgers,
Brianna Hooton, Nicanta Smith, and
Grace Constable finished third with a 48.91, and the 4x400 Relay team of
Vladlena Klymova,
Brianna Hooton,
Luisana Alonso, and
Gabrielle Zeilenga finished fourth with a 4:03.51, a season best.
The Pilots look ahead to the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championship at Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Ind. May 22-24.
