HOBART, Ind. --- After the first day of the KCAC Championship at the Hobart Aquatic Center, the Bethel Pilots lead the standings by three points over the reigning KCAC Champions Olivet Nazarene and 69 points over the third-place Aquinas Saints.
Jaylyn Harrison was crowned the champion of the 50-freestyle after finishing with a school record 23.76 over Olivet Nazarene's Mia Points, who swam a 24.17 for second place.
The 200-meter Freestyle Relay team of Eliza Nuet, Dominique van Vuure, Aixa Recchioni, and Jaylyn Harrison broke the school record with a 1:36.57, along with the 400-meter Medley Relay team of Aixa Recchioni, Teagan Risher, Eliza Nuet, and Jaylyn Harrison, who broke the school record with a 3:52.53.
Nuet finished fourth individually in the 200 IM with a 2:11.72, and Risher placed fifth in the event close behind at 2:11.84.
Josefina Gonzalez was the runner-up in the 500 freestyle with a 5:11.05 behind Grace Barnhart of Olivet Nazarene, who narrowly broke the KCAC record with a 5:03.58 to win the event. Van Vuure placed fourth in the 500 freestyle with a 5:13.75.
Day two of the KCAC Championship starts with the 200-meter Medley Relay at 10 a.m. at the Hobart Aquatic Center on the campus of Hobart High School on Friday, Feb. 15.
