Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men’s Volleyball takes one set from (RV) Benedictine Meza

MESA, Ari. --- The Bethel Men's Volleyball team (4-8, 0-6) lost to RV Benedictine University Mesa (6-7, 3-1) 3-1 Wednesday evening.

The Pilots started hot with a kill by Andre Parra, followed by two service aces by Afonso Matias to go up 3-0. After a narrow lead, the Pilots struggled late in the set, and Benedictine Mesa took the first set 25-23.

Mesa scored many runs in the second set, and Bethel couldn't break up their rhythm, so the Pilots lost the second set 25-19.

Like the first set, the Pilots found some pace in the third set. They began to pull away with Marcos Henrike's kill at 18-15, and then Tiago Silva followed up with two kills to put the Pilots up 20-16, then won 25-19. Arthur Barreto and Andre Parra each had multiple kills during the set.

Bethel lost some traction in the fourth set, with the Eagles pulling away at 13-11 with Dapre Rogers' kill, then went on a 5-0 run to give Benedictine the set 25-16 and the match 3-1.

McGwire Eigenrauch recorded 34 assists during the match.

Kills were spread out within the team as Arthur Barreto (9), Tiago Silva (8), Niko Apostolou (8), and Andre Parra (7) all had a good match.
