MARION, Ind. --- It was a successful Saturday for the Pilots, who were in their final weekend to qualify for the Indoor NCCAA National Championship and hit two NAIA qualifying standards at the IWU Midwest Classic, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan.
Sophia Sumer won the Pole Vault with a 3.67-meter mark, an NAIA 'A' qualifying standard, and Jael Vander Zwaag hit a 3.17-meter mark for fifth place and the NCCAA standard.
Gabrielle Zeilenga won the Long Jump with a 5.49-meter leap, which she hit on her first attempt, close to the NAIA 'B' standard at 5.52-meters, but met the NCCAA qualifying mark.
Markalah Barnes threw a fifth-place 12.74-meter throw for an NCCAA qualifying standard, which she hit on the third of five attempts.
Riley Hershberger won the 60-meter dash at 7.721 seconds in a tight finish, with Indiana Wesleyan's Ally Hawk at 7.729 seconds.
The 4x400 relay team of Brianna Hooton, Riley Hershberger, Rylin Bagarus, and Vladlena Klymova won the event with a 4:09.26, which topped Mount Vernon Nazarene's team by about 2.54 seconds.
