MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots ESPORTS team took home two conference championships over the weekend, including Overwatch defeating Purdue University 4-0 to be crowned the NECC Central Division Champions for the second year in a row and Rocket League taking their first ever NECC Emergents Midwest division title in program history after beating Valparaiso University 4-1.
Senior Cannon Harris finished his final game with eight saves and eight goals in the Pilot victory.
"Words can't express how proud I am of this team," head coach Dan Wort said, "They have worked extremely hard over the last couple of years, getting close with two runner-up finishes last year. Finally got over the hump to win our program's 1st conference championship in Rocket League."
With the Overwatch divisional championship, they play in the national tournament and currently have a 31-3, 11-1 record.
"We won back-to-back NECC conference titles this year. We were the #2 seed coming into the postseason, having lost to Purdue 3-1 during the regular season. The team played extremely well against an excellent Purdue squad. This was our 3rd NECC Overwatch championship," said Wort about the Overwatch championship."
