Box Score Mishawaka, Ind. --- The Bethel University Men's Volleyball squad (6-11, 3-10) takes down Adrian College (10-7, 0-1) in four sets Thursday night in the Goodman Gymnasium.
Bethel and Adrian went toe to toe during the first match, as it was within one point for the duration of the set. With the set tied at multiple points as 11, 16, 19, and 22, the Pilots finally gained a lead by two with a kill from Arthur Barreto and an error from Adrian to give the Pilots a 24-22 lead.
Soon after, another error from Adrian and a kill from Marcos Henrike gave the Pilots the set one victory 26-24. Bethel had a close second set as it came down to the wire again as the set went into extra points. With the set tied at 28, a service error from Adrian and a solo block from Erik Malek gave the Pilots a 2-0 lead over their opponent.
The Pilots could not finish during the third set as they lost the lead when it was tied 13-13 and couldn't come back to sweep Adrian as they lost the set 25-20.
Bethel had the fourth set tied at nine when they went on a 7-1 run to put them up 16-11. BU would maintain the lead even though Adrian put up a fight as they scored 10 more points before Bethel would win the set. Bethel would win this set 25-21 and get a 3-1 win over Adrian College..
Marcos Henrike led the Pilots in kills with 17, while Arthur Barreto was just behind him with 15. Miguel Rodrigues led the team in digs with eight, while Erik Malek recorded seven, and Ege Gul had six. Erik Malek had 38 sets during the game.
