MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The Bethel University Esports teams saw a successful week by clinching playoff spots midseason.
League of Legends lost to IUPUI 2-0 in NECC but beat Anderson 2-0 and Marietta 2-0 in GLEC. Freshman Cody Copeland led the team with 19 kills and 10 assists in the win over Anderson. Junior Emmanuel David Janzen had a solid match against Marietta with 19 kills and four assists.
Valorant defeated Greenville University 2-1 in ECAC as sophomore Nate Kropiewnicki continues to dominate in matches, notching 79 kills, 21 assists, and 336 average combat score in a big win over Greenville.
Rocket League fell to College of Staten Island 4-2 in ECAC. Senior Cam Napier led the team with seven goals on 54% shooting in the loss to CSI.
Rocket League JV lost to Louisiana Tech 4-2 in ECAC.
Super Smash Bros. beat Sienna Heights 2-1 in ECAC and St. Xavier 2-0 in GLEC. Sophomore Gus Pogue led the way with 21 KOs and a 7-2 record in the wins over Sienna Heights and St. Xavier. Super Smash Bros. JV lost to Fisher College 2-0 in ECAC.
Director of Esports Dan Wort said, "We had a good week for our varsity teams. We went 5-2 overall, with both Smash Bros. and League of Legends teams picking up two wins and Valorant getting a really good victory to stay unbeaten in ECAC play. Both Smash and League teams clinched GLEC playoff berths and now are just looking to finish the regular season strong and get a good seeding. "
