Women's Golf Opens Season with First Place in the Duel at the Rock

PERU, Ind. - The Bethel women's golf team started their season with a 36-hole match with Huntington University Wednesday in the Duel at the Rock, hosted by Rock Hollow Golf Club.

In the morning session, the Pilots had all five of their top players score in the 70's including 79 from Karisa Dyer, 78 from Izzy Aigner and a pair of 76's from Megan Bishop and Ellie Webster. But it was freshman Abigail Dymott who stole the show, firing a dazzling 1-under par 71 to anchor a team score of 301. Dymott's 71 is the lowest score for a player competing in their debut in the storied history of the women's golf program.

In the afternoon, it was Aigner's turn to shine, as she overcame two double bogeys by making five birdies, to fire her career-best 1-under par 71. Dymott added a hard fought 79, while Bishop and Webster carded 80 each, respectively. Bethel and Huntington matched each other with team scores of 310 in round two, but the Pilots' 301 was 18 better than the Forester's in the morning round.

The Pilots will be in action next when they travel to Richmond, Ind. on September 4-5 to compete in the IU East Invitational, held at Highland Lake Golf Club. Bethel will then host the Pretty Lake Intercollegiate on September 14-15 in Plymouth, Ind.
