Moodie takes over Track and Field program; Wilkerson transitions to new role

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Bethel University Athletics has announced Director of Track & Field Danny Wilkerson will step back from leading the program and transition into an assistant coach role.

Wilkerson will remain a key member of the coaching staff while continuing to serve as the Director of the Lehman Center. Associate Head Coach Andre Moodie has been named the new Head Track & Field Coach, Assistant Coach Josh Petro has been elevated to Associate Head Coach, and newly hired Head Cross Country Coach Wes Kundo will also serve as an assistant coach for the track & field program.

The transition allows Wilkerson to devote additional time to coaching a group of professional athletes while continuing to invest in Bethel's student-athletes. Among those professional athletes is Zach Bradford, the 2026 U.S. Indoor Champion in the pole vault and the current No. 9-ranked men's pole vaulter in the world.

"The track & field program has been a standard bearer for the Bethel athletic department for many years, and Danny Wilkerson has been a catalyst for that during his tenure at Bethel," said Director of Athletics Jason Lewkowicz. "We are grateful for his dedication and passion for Bethel and our student-athletes. I am excited that he will remain on the staff, continuing to use his gifts to bless and serve the staff and student-athletes while also representing Bethel on the world stage through his professional pursuits."

Moodie assumes the head coaching position after serving as the program's Associate Head Coach, where he has played a key role in the continued success and development of Bethel's student-athletes. Petro's promotion to Associate Head Coach recognizes his valuable contributions to the program, while Kundo's addition brings further coaching experience as he leads the cross country program and contributes to the success of the track & field team.

"I have full confidence that Coach Moodie will thrive in his new role and, along with Coach Petro, lead our track & field program in a manner that distinguishes us—being Christ-centered, culture-driven, and competitively excellent," said Lewkowicz "GO PILOTS!"
