NASHVILLE, Tenn. ---In perhaps the strongest tournament field of the year, the Bethel Women's Golf Team battled their way to a 15
th place finish in the Music City Classic, held at the historic Hermitage Golf Course.
The tournament hosted some of the premier teams in the NAIA including 18 highly ranked or receiving votes teams.
Bethel was again shorthanded, as their No. 2 player
Izzy Aigner continued to rest an injury. But the Pilots battled their way to team scores of 315-319-317 to finish ahead of three teams ranked ahead of them.
Ellie Webster sparked the Pilots with an opening round 75, while
Selah Unwin's final round 72, combined with
Karisa Dyer's 77 and
Megan Bishop's 80, helped the Pilots move up on the final day.
Unwin shot 76-78-72 to cap a remarkable tournament performance.
"This was a great opportunity to see where we stack up with some of the best teams in the nation," said Head Coach
Christopher Hess. "Obviously having Izzy would've put us in a better spot up the leaderboard, but we came with a goal to improve and compete and we really did a great job of fighting with just four players."
The Pilots will next see action when they host the Pilot Spring Invitational at Blackthorn golf Club on Friday, April 17
th starting at 8:30 AM. The 21-team field will play all 36 holes of the event on Friday as pending weather threatens Saturday.
