WINONA LAKE, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots fell 5-2 to the Grace College Lancers on Saturday at the Don Cramer Tennis Courts.
The Pilots secured doubles victories from
Dimitar Berdankov and
Lukas Slivar at No. 1 (6-3) and
Ostap Talama and
Atanas Ivanov at No. 3 (6-2). The No. 2 pair of
Aidyn Batyrbekov and
Santiago Flores fell 2-6.
In singles,
Dimitar Berdankov picked up Bethel's lone win with a 3-6, 4-6 victory at No. 1.
The Pilots dropped the remaining matches:
Aidyn Batyrbekov fell 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2,
Atanas Ivanov dropped a three-set battle 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 3,
Lukas Slivar lost a tight match 6-2, 7-6(3) at No. 4,
Ostap Talama fell 6-4, 6-0 at No. 5, and
Santiago Flores dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 6.
Head Coach Jamal Henry shared, "We, once again, battled hard, but just couldn't quite get over the hump. Grace has had our number for the last few years. We gained the momentum by winning the doubles point, but Grace stepped it up in the singles matches and took control of the match."
The Bethel Pilots will look for their next win on Monday against Holy Cross at the Notre Dame Eck Tennis Center. First serve is set for 9 AM.
