MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Bethel opened its home schedule with a 5-2 loss to Goshen on Wednesday at Ward Baker Park.
Goshen claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 (4-6) and No. 3 (1-6), while the No. 2 doubles match was left unfinished at 5-4.
The Pilots responded in singles with two victories, including a strong comeback from
Paola Lameda Morin at No. 3 (6-4, 5-7, 7-5) and a hard-fought three-set win from
Sandy Sharaf at No. 5 (3-6, 7-6(7), [10-5]).
In the remaining singles matches, Szilvia Ferenczy fell at No. 1 (4-6, 5-7), Olesya Krot dropped No. 2 (2-6, 3-6),
Daniela Pineros fell at No. 4 (6-4, 2-6, 2-6), and Farida Elsayed edged at No. 6 (5-7, 6-4 [7-10]) as Goshen secured the win.
The Bethel Pilots will next compete on Saturday, March 28 at 11 AM as they host the Spring Arbor University Cougars.
