Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MISHAWAKA, Ind. ---The Bethel Pilots (5-11, 1-3) split Saturday's doubleheader with the Taylor University Trojans (10-8, 5-1) on Gardner Field, breaking Taylor's 5-0 conference streak.

GAME ONE (L 4-17)
In game one, Freshman Karliegh Friedrich made great contributions to the Pilot offense with an RBI double to left center to bring home Morgan Blubaum (1-0).

Friedrich came around the bases, thanks to a ground out by Madelynn Queen, for a 2-0 Pilot lead at the bottom of the first.

After Sonia Yoder crossed home with Shelby White's ground out to second (3-3), Bethel could not connect at the plate until the bottom of the fifth.

Friedrich smacked her first career homer to right center to rally the Pilot bench before the Pilots geared up for game two.

GAME TWO (W 4-0)

Bethel's batting was strengthened by Kate Cooper in the bottom of the first. Cooper tripled down the right field line to bring in Friedrich who reached on a double to right (1-0).

The Pilots secured the win in the bottom of the sixth with a 3 RBI home run by Madison Shaw to bring in Kate Cooper and Paxton Baker (4-0).

Ryen Clair pitched a complete game for the Pilots in game two to get the shutout from the mound.

Head Coach Natalie Newell shared, "I thought we came out with a better game plan today and executed better, especially in the second game. I'm proud of the way the girls bounced back ad competed in game two to get our first league win of the year. We're going to keep learning and improving from each game."

The Pilots will next compete on the road against the Goshen College Maple Leafs (8-10, 2-4) on Tuesday, Mar. 17. First pitch at the Goshen College Softball Complex is set for 3 PM.
