CEDARVILLE, Ohio — The No. 22 Bethel Women's Tennis Team earned a 6–1 victory over NCAA DII Cedarville University on Saturday.

Bethel took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1 double, Paola Lameda and Szilvia Ferenczy earned a 6–3 win.

Lameda, a Freshman, earned her first Crossroads League Athlete of the Week Award for her performance. She shared, "It's an honor to be named Crossroads League Player of the Week. I'm just focused on getting better every day and competing hard for the team, so this is definitely a great confidence boost."

The No. 2 pairing of Olesya Krot and Daniela Pineros followed with a tight 7–6(5) victory. At No. 3 doubles, Sandy Sharaf and Kako Uchijo lost in a hard battled 6–4.

In singles play, Bethel won five of six matches. Krot picked up a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, winning her first college appearance 6–1, 6–3. Lameda earned the point at No. 3 singles 6-2 6-2, while Pineros added another win at No. 4 singles 6-2 6-0. Sharaf secured a victory at No. 5 singles with the score of 6-2 6-1, and Uchijo closed singles play with a three-set win at No. 6 singles, 6–2, 3–6, (10-7).

Cedarville's lone point came at No. 1 single where, due to an injury, Szilvia Ferenczy was forced to retire during the second set, at 7-5 3-2 down.

Head Coach Jamal Henry shared, "I was pleased with how our ladies kept getting better as the match went on." He continued, "I expected some nerves, especially with it being the first college career match or close to it for most of the ladies. As we continue to move throughout the season, I'm excited to see the growth that will come from each match experience."

The Bethel Pilots will next compete on February 21 against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. First serve is set for 3 PM in Southfield, Mich.
