Box Score 1 MELBOURNE, Fla. ---The Bethel Pilots (1-3) fell 7-4 to Calumet College of St. Joseph and 7-2 to Grand View University on Friday afternoon at the USSSA Space Coast Complex.
GAME ONE
The Pilots showcased an aggressive first inning, with
Madelynn Queen,
Morgan Blubaum, and
Alyssa Forys scoring for an early 3-0 lead.
Forys found first with a walk, while Blubaum sent Forys into scoring position with a base hit towards third.
Queen loaded up the bases with another walk. The three Pilots demonstrated aggressive base running, capitalizing on
Sonia Yoder's single to left to lead 3-0.
Calumet answered with two runs in the second inning, and one in the third for a 3-3 game.
Although the Pilots trailed 7-3 at the bottom of the fifth, Bethel answered with a final run in the sixth.
Forys walked again to first, and was able to advance to second with a base hit by Queen.
Calumet's pitching continued to struggle, and Maddie Shaw walked to load up the bases. Finally
Sonia Yoder's hit by pitch sent Forys home for a 7-4 game.
GAME TWO
In the Pilots' matchup with the Vikings, Freshman
Karleigh Friedrich posted her first hit as a Pilot.
Kate Cooper, Maddie Shaw, and
Sonia Yoder were also able to connect at the plate.
Alyssa Forys and Maddie Shaw each scored one run for the Pilots, while Cooper and Friedrich were each credited with an RBI.
The Bethel Pilots will next compete against Trinity Baptist College and Carolina University on Monday, March 2. Game times are set for 2:30 PM and 4:45 PM.
