ANGOLA, Ind. ---The RV Bethel Pilots (0-1) fell 17-3 in their season opener to the Trine University Thunder (2-0) on Thursday evening at Zollner Stadium.
In the sixth minute of the matchup,
PJ Pearson scored the first goal of the game, assisted by
Ella Vick (1-0).
The Thunder put the pressure on the Pilots, limiting Bethel to just eight shots throughout the entire game.
Taylor Stockdale came through in the ninth minute of the second quarter, finding the net thanks to
Kyra Dominick.
With just two seconds left on the clock in the third,
PJ Pearson found another way to score on the Thunder for a 13-3 game.
Trine proved a formidable opponent, with 20 shots on goal. Of the eight shots attempted by the Pilots, seven were on goal.
Defensively, Senior Goalkeeper
Maddie Reel shone, totaling one save in the first, five in the second, three in the third (including two on free-position shots), and one in the final quarter.
The Bethel Pilots will next face Albion College on the road on March 3 at 6 PM.
