Box Score 2 LAKE WALES, Fla. ---The Bethel Pilots (1-4) fell 8–4 to the Warner University Royals (8-6, 2-2) on Tuesday evening.
Bethel finished the game with four runs on six hits, with
Trey Delp and
Jack Nunley each scoring their first runs of their collegiate careers. Senior
Adam Walters also added two runs for the Pilot offense.
The Pilots got on the board early in the top of the first.
Adam Walters tripled down the right field line, and
Elijah Gaines followed with an RBI single to give Bethel a 1–0 lead.
In the third inning, Walters reached on an error and later came around to score on a fielding mistake by Warner, cutting the deficit to 3–2.
In the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings, the Pilot defense successfully turned two double plays.
The Pilots stayed within reach and made a late push in the ninth inning.
Jack Nunley was hit by a pitch and
Trey Delp singled to put two runners on.
Lucas Thorn then delivered with a two-RBI single up the middle, scoring Nunley and Delp to make it 8–4.
Offensively,
Elijah Gaines and
Lucas Thorn led at the plate with two hits each, and Thorn knocked in two RBI's.
On the mound,
Peyton Workman picked up two strikeouts while
Lucas Nowacki (0-1) took the loss after three innings of work.
Prior to Tuesday, Bethel concluded its series with the New College of Florida Mighty Banyans (11-5) on Sunday with a 7-3 victory in game four, and a 7-1 loss in game three.

Seth Zartman reflected on Sunday's performances, sharing "After the game one loss, I thought our team did a great job of regathering ourselves between games heading into game two. We were able to put pressure on them from the beginning by taking an early lead...We executed things well on offense and played good fundamental defense throughout." He continued, "
Adam Walters did a tremendous job on the mound, keeping NCF off balance all game..."
In Bethel's first win of the season,
Adam Walters led the Pilots in runs scored (two) while picking up his first win on the mound.
Andrew Dillon led the team in total hits (two) at the plate.
The Pilots will look to bounce back in their doubleheader against the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars on Feb. 27th, as the team continues its Florida road trip. First pitch is set for 10 AM.
