CEDARVILLE, Ohio --- The Bethel Pilots sit tied for sixth in the NCCAA National Championship standings with York (Neb.) at eight points. The Pilots walked away with one All-American performance after day one.
The 4x200 Relay team of Lamarr Williams, Brennen Bargesser, Joshua Harmon, Trevor Smith, and Marcus Smith took runner-up with a 1:30.14 under Campbellsville, who won the event with a 1:29.83 but earned NCCAA All-American status.
Lamarr Williams led the 60-meter prelims with a time of 6.81 to qualify for the finals on Saturday, and Derek Vondrak placed seventh with an 8.84 in the 60-hurdles to qualify for the finals.
Tyler Simpson placed 16th in the Weight Throw with a 12.90-meter mark.
Christopher Kourthuis sits in fifth in the Heptathlon with 2144 points with three events to go after placing second in the 60-meter at 7.24, second in the Long Jump with a 6.09-meter mark, ninth in the Shot Put with an 8.58-meter mark, and 10th in the High Jump with a 1.43-meter mark. Kourthuis has the 60 hurdles, Pole Vault, and the 1,000-meter on Saturday to round out the Heptathlon.
Day two of the NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, with the 4x800 Relay at Cedarville University.
