Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The NAIA 8th ranked Bethel Men's Soccer offense (9-2-1, 3-0) flourished vs. the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars (5-7-0, 0-3) Saturday night on Morey Field with a 2-1 victory.
Bethel put immediate pressure on Mount Vernon with a shot from Andres Maza in just 40 seconds of the start of the game.
The Pilots had nine shots in the half, seven being on goal. The first half was 0-0 after a dominant 45 minutes.
In the 56th minute of regulation, Tim Noeding was fouled, and a free kick was awarded five yards outside the top of the box. Sami Charaf Amal took the free kick with his left foot and curved it in off the right post past the 6'6 keeper of Mount Vernon.
Two minutes later, Amal chipped the ball through two defenders and found Noeding, who found the back of the net off a keeper deflection to put the Pilots up 2-0.
With time expiring, Mount Vernon scored a late goal and pressured the Pilots. With seconds to spare, Bethel was able to maintain the lead and gain another Crossroads League win.
