GOSHEN, Ind. --- The Bethel Pilots Women's Volleyball team (17-3, 6-3) won their ninth match in a row against the Goshen Maple Leafs (7-14, 0-9) in the US Highway 20 Cup on Friday.
The Pilots roared to a quick 5-2 lead in the opening set before the Maple Leafs put the pressure on and work back to a 6-5 score. A slew of Goshen mistakes allowed the Pilots to build some cushion, and a kill by Maddy Payne brought the Pilots back to an 11-6 lead. Bethel sealed the first set by taking advantage of an attack error 25-21.
Cheyanne Seymour and Payne took turns with kills to soar to a 14-5 lead, maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second set, and sealed the set victory 25-17.
Bethel led off the third set with a 5-1 run, then coupled it with a 6-0 after. The Pilots maintained a steady lead and sealed the sweep with a 25-11 set victory.

- Payne only had two errors and swung a .474 hitting percentage, which is the 11th time this season, hitting above .400.

The Pilots continue a three-match road stretch with a trip to Upland, Ind., set for Saturday, Sept. 30, at 3 p.m. to take on the Taylor Trojans. Bethel won the last two meetings with a 3-2 win at home and a 3-0 sweep in Sioux City, Iowa, for the NAIA National Championship Pool E matchup.
