MOUNT VERNON, Ohio --- The NAIA 15th-ranked Bethel Pilots Women's Volleyball team (15-3, 4-3) had more Crossroads League action today on the road vs. the 25th-ranked Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars (17-4, 5-2) and defeated them 3-1.
The first set was tightly contested until the Cougars started to gain their lead after a 9-9 tie. The Cougars would find multiple three-point runs and take the first set 25-17.
Bethel responded quickly as they went up 7-2 early in the second set. MVU fought back and tied it up at 16, but Bethel kept their heads down and finished strong, winning 25-19 to even the series.
The third set was continuously back and forth as each team took the lead multiple times. The Pilots took a slight lead (17-14) and pushed from there. Kills from Maddy Payne and Cheyanne Seymour kept the Pilots up and secured their second set win, which put them up 2-1.
The Pilots dominated the fourth set as they went on a couple of three and four-point runs to finish the match with a 25-14 fourth-set win.
