Box Score Whiting, Ind. --- The Bethel University women's basketball team (9-19, 4-14) was able to secure the last game of the season vs. Calumet College of St. Joseph (0-22, 0-20) on the road Saturday afternoon with the score of 83-58.
Bethel started slow in the first quarter, as they went down 4-0 in the first four minutes.
Katie Kinker and
Maiah Shelton each made a shot to get the ball rolling for the Pilots. Two three pointers with three minutes to go, one from Kallie Mcelroy and one from
Ellia Foster, put the Pilots up by seven (17-10) and would lead the remainder of the game.
In the second quarter, the Pilots made an offensive push, as
Nyla Asad hit multiple shots. Senior
Taylor Pasquale hit a three with 2:56 remaining in the half, which put the Pilots up by 18.
Asad kept capitalizing due to Calumet's turnovers in the third quarter.
An
Alaysia Stewart three-point shot put the Pilots up 25 with 1:33 to play in the third which made the score 63-38.
A back and forth fourth quarter eventually led to an 83-58 victory to end the Pilots season.
Maiah Shelton led the Pilots in points with 21 and eight rebounds.
Katie Kinker had 14 points and seven rebounds,
Nyla Asad had 11 points and seven rebounds, and
Taylor Pasquale had nine points and three rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Bethel shot 87.5% (7-8) from the charity stripe and 46.2% from deep (12-26).
- The Pilots had 30 bench points.
