Box Score Bourbonnais, IL. --- The Bethel University Men's Volleyball squad (1-5) was unable to steal a win on the road against a powerful Olivet Nazarene University team (8-3) Friday night.
Bethel seemed to be just one point behind the entire first set until they tied it up at 14-14 from a kill by
Ege Gul and was assisted by
Meric Akovali. The Pilots couldn't grab the lead as they tied again at 19-19 but lost the set 25-22.
The second set didn't fair well for the Pilots either as they went down 10-4 quickly but found some strength as they went on a 5-1 run to get the set to 17-16, ONU. ONU then went on their own 5-1 run and soon finished the set out 25-20.
The third set seemed to mimic the second set with a slow start and an attempt to get back some momentum as the Pilots found themselves down 10-4 and closed the gap to 15-12 later in the set. A 7-4 tun by BU at the end of the set was not enough for the Pilots to get a set win as ONU won the third set, 25-20.
The Pilots were led in kills by
Marcos Henrike with 10 and four digs.
Meric Akovali had a strong night as had 25 assists recorded.
