Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- Bethel University Women's Basketball team (2-2) defeated Holy Cross College (2-2) 76-68 in Gates Gymnasium Wednesday night.
The Pilots opened the game with an 8-4 run and kept the offense moving with a Kallie Harrison 3-pointer in 6:23 to go up 12-6 in the first.
The Saints were able to get within three early in the second quarter, but Maiah Shelton drained a 3-pointer, and an Abby Williams layup put the Pilots up by eight at 3:40.
Holy Cross kept it close at the start of the second half and tied it at 38-38 with a Lauren Morris 3-pointer at 6:44. After the Saints got into some foul trouble, Bethel was able to make some free throws and another Shelton 3-pointer helped give the Pilots a ten-point lead near the end of the third.
The fourth quarter was tense as Bethel was up by only three for some time. Three 3-pointers were made by the Pilots in a row, one from Shelton, Harrison, and Faith Davis to put the Pilots up by 12 with five minutes to go.
Mariah Claywell and Hannah Ruddle made both of their free throws late in the game to solidify the Pilots second win of the season.
