Pilots battle in top 25 dog fight with Mount Vernon Nazarene

MISHAWAKA, Ind. --- The #20 Women's Volleyball team (23-4, 11-4) had more Crossroads League play today vs. #25 Mount Vernon Nazarene University (25-6, 11-4) and came away with a 3-1.

The Pilots and Cougars battled closely in all four sets, with the first coming down to the wire. Bethel maintained a slight consistent lead during the first set, but MVNU returned in the closing points and took the lead. BU was able to win out from a 24-23 deficit with three consecutive points, which gave them a 26-24 win.

Mount Vernon had what Bethel had in the first set. A slight lead the entire set and never really gave it up. BU was close as it was 24-22, but Mount Vernon won off a kill from Libby Evanshine to make it a 1-1 game.

The third set was the most thrilling as it went into extra points. Each team was battling hard late into the set, but Bethel snuck out a third set win from two errors from Mount Vernon to win 30-28 and go up 2-1.

Bethel controlled the fourth set through its entirety as they had another consistent five or more-point lead during the set. Bethel won the fourth 25-17, earning them another Crossroads League win.
