COACHING PHILOSOPHY/WHY DO YOU COACH?

“I coach because I love the game of basketball and the strategic nature of the sport. To me, basketball is a constant chess match that challenges coaches and players to prepare, adapt, compete, and work together toward a common goal.
While I love the competitive and strategic aspects of basketball, the relationships I am able to build with student-athletes are what make coaching most meaningful to me. At Bethel, I value the opportunity to invest in our athletes throughout their four years and watch them grow not only as basketball players, but also as individuals and young adults.I chose Bethel University because of its Christ-centered campus and the opportunity to coach in an environment where faith and athletics are intentionally connected. I am passionate about helping student-athletes grow in their faith, develop as competitors and teammates, and become the people God has called them to be.” – Austin Hawkins
