Natalie Newell was a pitcher for the Bethel softball team from 2011-2015. Newell came to Bethel by way of Goshen High School and immediately began to shut down Pilot opponents, while stamping her name in the school's history as one of the most dominating athletes in any sport.
Newell was a 5-time All-American, twice in the NAIA (2012 & 2014) and three times in the NCCAA (2012, 2013 & 2014). She was also a member of the All-Crossroads League four times and was named Crossroads League Pitcher-of-the-Year each of her first 3 seasons, as well as an NAIA national Pitcher-of-the-Week two times and an 11-time Crossroads League Pitcher-of-the-Week.
With Newell leading the way, Bethel produced 4 straight seasons with at least 24 wins and an overall record of 117-57. Her name is found nearly two dozen times in the softball record book, most notably 1
st in career strikeouts with 865, 1
st in shutouts with 25, and holds the school record for most strikeouts in a single season with 277 in 2013. Natalie's career record was 60-22, while recording an incredible career ERA of 1.52. In addition, she had a career batting average of .407, with 20 homers and 112 RBI.
