Graduate assistant Alex Daniel begins his first season as an assistant for the Pilots. Daniel, after his playing career with Taylor University ended in 2009, completed his undergraduate studies in business and human psychology at Ball State University in 2011.
Prior to coaching for the Pilots, Daniel served as an assistant coach for Yorktown (Ind.) High School from 2009-11, before becoming an assistant coach for IU South Bend for the last two seasons under current Lyon College (Ark.) head coach Chad Tapp.
As an assistant at IU South Bend, Daniel helped coach the Titans to the top two win totals in program history with 16 wins in 2011-12 and a program record 20 wins in 2012-13, and an appearance in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinals.
A 2005 graduate of Muncie Central High School, Daniel was the leading scorer on the IHSAA class 4A state runner up. Upon graduation Alex signed with and played for Saginaw Valley State University (Mich.). After one season he transferred to Lakeland Community College (Ill.) where he was named team captain for his sophomore season.
Daniel would move on play at Taylor University where he was a member of the 2007-08 team that was ranked as high as No. 20 in the NAIA, and was the leading scorer on the 2008-09 team with 12.9 points per game.
In addition to the core coaching responsibilities, Daniel assists in the areas of recruiting, film exchange, and scouting.
Daniel is pursuing his graduate studies in Business Administration and resides in Mishawaka with his wife, Maddi, and 4-year-old daughter, Channing.
