Tanner Heick

Heick graduated from Decatur Lutheran High School in 2018, where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He was named Christian Athlete of the Year during his senior year at Decatur Lutheran. 
 
He became a student assistant for the University of Indianapolis Men’s Basketball team from 2018-2020. During the two seasons, Heick was with the Greyhounds, they had a combined record of 43-16, 2 GLVC tournament appearances, and the Greyhounds were ranked as high as #11 nationally (5 rankings in total) during the 2019-2020 season. The Greyhounds were set to host the 2020 National Tournament as the #1 seed before COVID-19 canceled the tournament. 
 
In those two years, the hounds had two wins over the top 5 nationally ranked teams and four ranked wins in total.
 
Heick graduated from the University of Indianapolis in December of 2021 with his bachelor’s in sport management. 
 
Shortly after graduating from the University of Indianapolis, he joined the Loras College (D3) men’s basketball staff as a volunteer assistant coach from January 2022 to April 2022. 
 
During that time, the Duhawks were 2-3 vs. region-ranked teams and advanced to the semi-finals of their conference tournament. Loras finished the season 18-9.

In the spring and summer of 2022 Heick coached a 17U team for Mid-Pro Academy, which saw players from his team land at Illinois State (D1), Carl-Sandburg (JUCO), and John-Wood (JUCO).
 
In May 2022, as a graduate assistant, Heick joined the Bethel University men’s basketball team. Assisting in day-to-day operations, player development, scouting reports, recruiting, and social media brand development.

Heick was also the head coach of a 15U Indy Heat- Competitive Greatness team during the spring of 2023.  
 
Tanner Heick begins his new role as an assistant coach this summer in preparation for the 2023-2024 season.
