Goshen and Bethel have squared off in intercollegiate athletic competition for more than six decades, dating back to their first-ever meeting between men's basketball programs on January 24, 1959. As the rivalry has grown over the years, the two athletic departments have decided to outgrow mere bragging rights and announce an all-sports competition.
The US Highway 20 Cup was announced jointly by Bethel Athletic Director Tony Natali and Goshen Athletic Director Harold Watson in 2019-20. Points will be awarded to the winning team in each of the schools' 18 shared sports. If the two teams do not meet during the regular season, the higher finisher at the Crossroads League Championships is the point winner. In the case of ties, both teams get half of the allotted points for that contest.
Bethel won the 2021-22 US Highway 20 Cup, 10.50-4.50 and won the 2022-23 US Highway Cup 12.75-4.25. Bethel has a record of 5-0-0 record against Goshen over the five-year history of the series.
