Women's Soccer Falls 2-0 Despite Outshooting Saint Xavier

MISHAWAKA, IND. – Bethel Women's Soccer peppered the Saint Xavier goal with 17 shots but couldn't find the back of the net, dropping a 2-0 decision to the Cougars on Thursday at Morey Field.

MATCH RECAP

  • Bethel came out firing, putting six shots on frame in the opening 15 minutes, but Saint Xavier's Alex Jonaitis capped an early spell of possession with a goal in the 15th minute to make it 1-0.
  • The Pilots kept the pressure on through Hannah Thomas, Camdyn Bolton and Ashley Lopez Cruz, closing the first half with a 13-5 shot advantage, but Natalie Dybas held firm and Bethel trailed 1-0 at the break.
  • Bethel continued to create chances after halftime, but Saint Xavier's Brianna Garcia struck in the 64th minute to push the lead to 2-0.
  • The Pilots pressed for a response late through Ava Stevens, Annalise Jung and Peyton Geer, but Dybas and the Saint Xavier defense closed out the shutout.
