BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom ---
James Gill of the Bethel University Men's Track and Field Team made Bethel history this past weekend as the first Pilot to compete at the UK British Championship.
The Freshman from Deal, United Kingdom raced in the 100m and 200m events, finishing with times of 10.65s and 21.6s. Gill previously won Rookie of the Year for the entire Bethel University Athletic Department at this year's annual Helm Awards.Â
Coach Andre Moodie shared, "To be able to compete against professional athletes for the chance of making a national team is a tremendous achievement for James..." He continued, "He has matured a lot in his first year at Bethel and we look towards a chance to make the world championship team in Beijing, China in 2027."Â
Gill reflected on the accomplishment, sharing, "Thanks to the amazing support I got from Bethel, I was able to improve and compete at my national championships."Â
At the conclusion of his inaugural indoor season, Gill earned NAIA All-American honors in the 200m Dash.Â
