Box Score 2 HUNTINGTON, Ind. ---The Bethel Pilots (6-24, 2-16) fell in their Crossroads League doubleheader to the Huntington University Foresters (19-12, 11-8), 11-3 in both matchups on Thursday.
GAME ONE (11-3 L, 6 inn.)
Huntington took control early, scoring three runs in the first and adding four more in the second to build a 7-1 lead.
Bethel responded in the third inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from
Alyssa Forys, and added another run in the fourth, but could not cut further into the deficit.
Forys finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Pilots.
Karleigh Friedrich added an RBI, while
Peyton Renier and
Sonia Yoder each recorded a hit and scored a run.
As a team, Bethel totaled eight hits and three runs, but left six runners on base.
Haylee Allen was charged with the loss in the circle, allowing seven runs in 1.1 innings, while
Alysa Fritz provided 4.1 innings of relief. The Pilots allowed 11 runs on 11 hits defensively.
GAME TWO (11-3 L, 6 inn.)
Huntington once again used a fast start, scoring three runs in the first and adding four in the third to take an early lead.
The Pilots showed offensive production throughout the lineup, finishing with seven hits in the game.
Madison Shaw led the way, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Sonia Yoder added a strong performance, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI, while
Riley Northrop recorded two hits.
Shelby White also drove in a run for Bethel.
Bethel finished with seven hits and three RBIs, but committed three errors defensively and left six runners on base.
Ryen Clair took the loss in the circle, while
Madelynn Queen pitched in relief. Huntington recorded 20 hits in the game, putting consistent pressure on the Pilots' defense.
The Pilots will look for their next victory on Friday, April 3 at Gardner Field. They will host rival Grace College (7-25, 1-17) at 3 and 5 PM.
