INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Bethel University Men's Tennis Team concluded their season with a 4-2 loss to Marian University in the opening round of the Crossroads League Tournament on Monday.
The match opened with doubles play, where Marian secured the early advantage by winning two of three courts. Bethel's point came at No. 2, as
Aidyn Batyrbekov and
Santiago Flores earned a 6-3 victory, while Marian took No. 1 (6-4) and No. 3 (6-2) to claim the doubles point.
In singles, the Pilots battled and kept the match within reach.
Dimitar Berdankov delivered a strong comeback at No. 1, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, while
Atanas Ivanov added another point with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3.
Marian ultimately secured the match with wins on the remaining courts, including No. 2 (6-4, 6-0) and No. 4 (6-0, 6-3), along with a hard-fought three-set battle at No. 5 (7-6, 6-7, 6-1) to clinch the 4-2 result.
Despite the loss, Bethel competed closely throughout singles play, showing resilience in multiple matches throughout the conference quarterfinal.
