DALTON, Ga. ---The RV Bethel University Women's Golf Team competed on Monday and Tuesday with some of the nation's best at the Roadrunner Invitational, hosted by Dalton State.
The field featured 15 nationally ranked teams in a 54 hole, two day format.
The Pilots struggled with consistency on day one, but still battled their way to team scores of 326-323, which moved them into a good position of 12
th place heading into the final round.
Freshman
Ellie Webster's 78 led the way in the opening round while Sophomore Izabela Aigner matched that score with a 78 in round two.
The final round showed lots of promise and Bethel came out firing on all cylinders to move into ninth place, before injuries struck and halted the momentous move up the leaderboard.
Playing with just four players, the Pilots struggled to find their groove and fell back to 12
th place overall, shooting a team score of 331.
"We had some pretty high hopes for this event and it was disappointing to have some injuries set us back on the final round," said Head Coach
Christopher Hess. "There were some flashes of great golf, so hopefully we can get healthy and grab some good mojo the rest of the way this spring as we gear up for our own event at Blackthorn and the Crossroads League Championship in early May."
The Bethel ladies will next see action on April 13-14 when they compete in another stacked field in Nashville at the Music City Classic, hosted by Cumberland University.
