MISHAWAKA, Ind. ---The Bethel Pilots picked up wins over Mount Vernon Nazarene (5-0) and Grace College (4-3) this week. The Pilots also faced Holy Cross College but fell 4-0 at the South Bend Raquet Club.
Wednesday vs. Mount Vernon (W 5-0)
The Pilots set the tone early in doubles play, as
Paola Lameda Morin and Olesya Krot earned a 6-0 win at No. 1.
Paula Nadal Hurtado and
Sandy Sharaf followed with another 6-0 victory to secure the doubles point.
In singles competition, Bethel continued to excel as
Paola Lameda led the way with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1, while Olesya Krot and
Sandy Sharaf each posted 6-0, 6-0 victories.
Paula Nadal Hurtado added a 6-1, 6-0 win to seal the team result. The Pilots controlled the match from start to finish, showcasing depth and consistency across the lineup while celebrating their senior class.
Thursday vs. Holy Cross (L 0-4)
The Pilots faced a tough battle in doubles play, dropping the opening point. The No. 1 pair of
Paola Lameda Morin and Olesya Krot were edged 6-4, while the No. 2 match featuring
Paula Nadal Hurtado and
Sandy Sharaf went unfinished. At No. 3, Kako Uchio and
Mariami Jikhvashvili fell 6-2.
In singles, Bethel competed in several close matches but was unable to secure a point.
Paola Lameda Morin pushed her opponent to three sets before falling in a close tiebreak, while Olesya Krot battled in a competitive three-set match at No. 3.
Paula Nadal Hurtado,
Sandy Sharaf, Kako Uchio, and
Mariami Jikhvashvili also saw action in singles as the Pilots fought throughout the lineup.
Despite the final score, multiple matches were closely contested, highlighting Bethel's competitiveness across both singles and doubles play.
Saturday vs. Grace College (W 4-3)
Bethel University earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Grace College on Saturday, overcoming adversity to secure the road win.
The Pilots claimed the doubles point with wins at the top two positions.
Paola Lameda Morin and Olesya Krot secured a 6-7(6) victory at No. 1, while
Kako Uchijo and
Sandy Sharaf added a 6-4 win at No. 2.
The No. 3 pair of
Audrey Kinnison and
Mariami Jikhvashvili fell 6-2.
In singles, Bethel picked up three key wins to secure the match.
Sandy Sharaf earned a 4-6, 4-6 victory at No. 2, while Olesya Krot battled to a 4-6, 6-7(5) win at No. 3.
The deciding point came at No. 4, where
Kako Uchijo clinched the match with a 4-6, 7-6(4), 5-7 victory.

Mariami Jikhvashvili dropped a tight three-set match 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-2 at No. 5, and
