MUNCIE, Ind. ---The Bethel PIlots competed at Ball State's We Fly Challenge on Friday and Saturday at the Briner Sports Complex.
Highlighting the meet was
Tanique Taylor, who in her first season as a Pilot showcased a top-three finish in the Women's 100m Hurdles with a time of 14.60s. The junior previously competed at Iowa Western, an NJCAA institution, before coming to Bethel. With her performance on Saturday, she outpaced several NCAA Division 1 athletes from Bowling Green, Ball State, Ohio University, and Miami of Ohio.
Taylor also teamed up with
Jade Ferguson,
Nicanta Smith, and
Grace Constable for an 8th place finish (48.23s) in Saturday's 4x100m Relay.
In the 100m,
Nicanta Smith (16th) and
Grace Constable (20th) each finished in the top half of the field at 12.72s and 12.78s respectively, before accomplishing the same feat in the 200m with Smith taking 20th (25.99s) and Constable claiming 26th (26.38s) in a field of 62 runners who scored.
On Friday,
Ariel Manns led the Pilots with a 12th place finish in the high-jump (1.50m), with
Brooke Edison closely following in 16th (1.45m). Both ladies surpassed D1 Butler University entry Lily Wharton.
Sydney Rice took home a 28th place finish (32.27m) in the Women's Discus to complete Friday's lineup.
In Saturday's long jump contest, Freshman
Jaymasen Delancey placed 22nd (4.83m) ahead of entries from Indiana Wesleyan, Marian and the University of Indianapolis. Delancey also took home a 26th place finish in the 100m Hurdles, surpassing talent from Bowling Green, Butler, and Indiana Wesleyan.
Alecia Parker (20th, 12.11m) and
Sydney Rice (27th, 11.31m) each competed in Saturday's shot put event, while
Lauren Edison recorded a 28th place showing in the 100m Hurdles (18.26s).
In the 400m, Freshman Christelle McIntire placed 31st with a time of 1:05.76, and
Anna Enderle placed 29th in the 1500m (5:03.46).
