MISHAWAKA, Ind. ---Bethel University celebrated Senior Day in dominant fashion last Tuesday afternoon, sweeping the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars 7-0 at Ward Baker Park.
The Pilots opened strong in doubles play, as the duo of
Santiago Flores and
Dimitar Berdankov secured a 6-1 win at No. 1.
Aidyn Batyrbekov and
Atanas Ivanov followed with a 6-0 victory, while
Holden Babb and
Ostap Talama completed the doubles sweep with another 6-0 result.
Bethel carried that momentum into singles, winning all six matches in straight sets.
Aidyn Batyrbekov,
Atanas Ivanov, and
Ostap Talama each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories, while
Santiago Flores,
Zane Wort, and
Holden Babb also secured wins to complete the shutout.
The match also served as a special moment for seniors
Holden Babb and
Santiago Flores, who were recognized prior to competition by Head Coach Jamal Henry and Former Bethel Tennis Coach John Dendiu.
Head Coach Jamal Henry shared, "Today was a great day to honor Seniors
Holden Babb and
Santiago Flores, who have been committed to this program over the course of their four years here. It has been a blessing to watch how they have grown over the years, especially since they were a part of my first original recruiting class. I look forward to watching them continue to grow as men as they continue on in their adult lives."
