Women's Golf Finishes Fifth in Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff

Izzy Aigner, pictured first, led the Pilots with a top-ten finish
WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. ---The RV Bethel University Women's Golf Team competed in in the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff, hosted by Walsh University, from Tuesday to Thursday.

There was plenty of rust for the Pilots to shake off after a four month hiatus from the golf course. While there were many signs of the brilliance of the NCCAA Championship in October, the Bethel ladies ultimately struggled on the final day to finish 5th of 8 teams.

Bethel posted a three-day total of 1000 (332-332-334), about 15 shots over their daily average from the fall, and finished 9 shots out of the 3rd place finisher Saginaw Valley State.

Sophomore Izabela Aigner was the bright spot for the Pilots, finishing 9th overall in the field of 45 players with a 246 total (81-83-82).

"We did show some signs of great play but we just made so many mistakes that led to huge numbers. When we do that, it's just really difficult to overcome mistakes like that, especially in the big moments down the stretch," said Head Coach Christopher Hess. "This is a very talented and competitive team and this event just gives us a baseline to start with as we get to work for the rest of the spring season. We have some huge tournaments coming up on the national level and we'll be ready to bring our best when we tee it up."

The Bethel Pilots will next compete at the Road Runner Invitational, hosted by Dalton State, on March 30 and 31. The event will be held at the Nob North Golf Club in Dalton, Ga.
