Pilots Showcase Back-to-Back Wins on Thursday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MELBOURNE, Fla. ---The Bethel Pilots (4-6) picked up wins over Cleary University (3-8) and Ave Maria University (4-9, 0-3) on Thursday at the Space Coast Complex.

GAME ONE VS. CLEARY (1-0 W)

The game remained scoreless through five innings before Bethel broke through in the top of the sixth. Karleigh Friedrich started the inning with a single and Alyssa Forys followed with another hit to put runners on base. Later in the inning, Kate Cooper doubled to right center, driving in Forys for the game's only run.

Bethel finished the game with six hits, including hits from Friedrich, Forys, Cooper, Madelynn Queen, Morgan Blubaum, and Natalie Wilton.

In the circle, Haylee Allen delivered a strong performance, throwing a complete game shutout. Allen allowed just four hits and struck out three over seven innings to secure the win.

Bethel's defense also helped protect the lead late, holding Cleary scoreless in the final innings to close out the 1–0 victory.


GAME TWO VS. AVE MARIA (8-6 W).

The Pilots jumped ahead early with a five-run second inning. Emily Kidwell drew an RBI walk, while Natalie Wilton and Sonia Yoder reached on fielders' choices that brought runs home.

Madison Shaw added an RBI groundout to cap the inning and give Bethel a 5–2 lead.

Ave Maria responded in the fifth inning, scoring four runs to take a 6–5 lead, but Bethel responded quickly. Alysa Fritz tied the game with an RBI double, scoring Kate Cooper.

The Pilots regained the lead in the sixth inning when Alyssa Forys tripled to left, driving in Karleigh Friedrich. Madison Shaw later added a sacrifice fly, bringing Forys home and extending the lead to 8–6.

In the circle, Alysa Fritz earned the win, pitching 2.2 innings with two strikeouts in relief. Madelynn Queen started the game and threw 4.1 innings.

Offensively, Forys led Bethel with two hits and an RBI, while Shaw drove in two runs. The Pilots finished with seven hits in the victory.


The Bethel Pilots will next compete against Bismarck Stat College tomorrow at 10 AM.
