MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The No. 22 Bethel Pilots earned a 5-2 victory over the Spring Arbor Cougars on Saturday at Ward Baker Park, responding well after Wednesday's loss.
The Pilots took early control by sweeping all three doubles matches.
Paola Lameda Morin and Olesya Krot won at No. 1 (6-2),
Daniela Pineros Leon and Farida Elsayed followed at No. 2 (6-4), and
Paula Nadal Hurtado and
Sandy Sharaf secured the No. 3 doubles matchup (6-1).
In singles play, Bethel added four wins to seal the match.
Daniela Pineros Leon earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3, while
Sandy Sharaf picked up a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Farida Elsayed dominated at No. 5 (6-2, 6-0), and
Paula Nadal Hurtado closed out the scoring with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6.
Spring Arbor earned points at No. 1 (5-7, 3-6) and No. 2 (6-4, 4-6, 5-7), but Bethel's strong start in doubles and consistency in singles secured the win.
Head Coach Jamal Henry shared, "After Wednesday's setback, we needed to get back to a better state of positivity, and I thought we did just that today. Everyone had to adjust to their new roles and different positions, and I believe it was a step in the right direction."
The Bethel Pilots will next compete on Wednesday, April 1 against the No. 11 Marian University Knights. First serve for the road matchup is set for 2 PM in Indianapolis, Ind.
