UPLAND, Ind. ----Bethel Women's Tennis opened conference play with a 7-0 sweep over Taylor on Saturday.
The Pilots took control early by winning all three doubles matches.
Paola Lameda and
Szilvi Ferenczy earned a 6-2 win at No. 1, while
Olessya Krot and
Daniela Pineros secured a 6-1 victory at No. 2.
Farida El Sayed and
Paula Nadal completed the sweep with a 6-0 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Bethel won all six matches. At No. 1,
Olessya Krot battled through a three-set match to win 3-6, 6-0, 6-2.
Paola Lameda followed with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2.
Daniela Pineros dominated at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-1 result, while
Sandy Sharaf earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Farida El Sayed added a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5, and
Paula Nadal completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6.
Head Coach Jamal Henry shared, "You could see some nerves from many of our freshman playing in their first conference match. We have put a strong emphasis on the importance of conference, and I think that may have gotten to them to start their matches. Once we settled down and started playing our games, we really took off. This is going to be an exciting conference season!"
Bethel moves to 1-0 in conference play and will look for their next victory on Tuesday March 24, as the Pilots host the RV Goshen College Maple Leafs at Ward Baker Park.
