Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Bethel Pilots (2-1, 1-0) opened their home schedule with a 5–2 conference victory over the Madonna Crusaders (2-4, 0-1) on Saturday afternoon at Morey Field.
Bethel struck first in the second quarter when Pj Pearson scored twice, giving the Pilots an early 2–0 lead.
Madonna responded early in the third, with Nya Caldwell recording the first goal for the Crusaders (2-1).
Bethel battled back with
Mackenzie Holland finding the net to increase Bethel's lead to two once again.
In the fourth quarter,
Kelsee Smit added two goals to help seal the victory for Bethel. Madonna scored once late in the game, but the Pilots maintained control to secure the 5–2 win.
Bethel finished the day with 17 shots, including eight on goal, and controlled the ground ball battle 20–15.
Maddie Reel anchored the defense in goal, finishing with 10 saves.
The Pilots will look to further their conference winning streak on Wednesday, as they take on the Aquinas College Saints (2-4, 1-1) on the road. Gametime is set for 5 PM on the Aquinas College Athletic Field.
