Bethel Baseball Sweeps Goshen on the Road

GOSHEN, Ind.— The Bethel Pilots (5-11, 3-7) picked up two big wins over the Goshen College Maple Leafs (1-20, 0-10) on Friday at J. Harold "Sarge" Yoder Baseball Field.

GAME ONE (W 21-12)

The Pilots claimed an early 2-0 lead in the first thanks to Jordan Landkrohn's double to left center to bring in Jesse Stout and Elijah Gaines

In the bottom of the second, Goshen took a 3-2 lead with a base hit by Barron Welsh to send Nathan Pinedo across home plate.

Goshen held steady and managed to keep within a few runs of Bethel until the top of the eighth, when the Pilots pulled away.

Andrew Dillon smacked a two RBI base hit to left to score Stout and Gaines (13-8).

Freshman Trey Delp added a single down the left field line to bring in Dillon and Landkrohn (15-8).

In the final inning, Adam Walters showcased a double to left center to bring home Jack Nunley (20-11). Walters would find home following a base hit by Landkrohn for the final Pilot run of the game.

GAME TWO (W 15-5)

In game two, Bethel showcased aggressive base running in the first inning, capitalizing on Jordan Landkrohn's walk and three singles by Anthony Cimini, Trey Delp, and Andrew Dillon for a 3-0 lead.

Highlighting the top of the fifth was Jordan Landkrohn's three-bagger to right center to bring home Jesse Stout, Elijah Gaines, and Jack Nunley (9-2).

In the sixth inning, Jesse Stout recorded his second triple of the season.

Freshman Mateo Falsetti-Nadeau recorded his first RBI as a Pilot in the top of the seventh with a single to left, bringing home Trey Delp (14-4).

Head Coach Seth Zartman shared, "...Our ball club did a great job of keeping their composure all day at the plate and in the field. I thought we did a great job of keeping our focus and making adjustments all day long to come out on the right side of both contests." He continued, "Our pitching staff did a great job of battling tough (weather) conditions and working through some tough situations to keep us in (a) good position to execute today..."

The Pilots will complete their series with the Maple Leafs today at 12 PM and 3 PM at J. Harold "Sarge" Yoder Baseball Field.
