The Pilots fell to the Cougars in games one, two, and three but persevered for the win in game four.

GAMES ONE & TWO

Bethel opened up the series with Mount Vernon on Friday with a scoreless first two games (4-0, 1-0).

Pilots Adam Walters, Jesse Stout, Jordan Landkrohn, Anthony Cimini, and Angel Alicea each made connections at the plate, with Landkrohn leading the charge with two hits.

Luke Mast suffered the loss at the mound after 7.1 innings of work and three strikeouts.

GAMES THREE & FOUR

The Pilots fared much better on day two, challenging Mount Vernon with an 8-9 game at the top of the eighth.

Inclement weather ensued to affect Bethel's pitching, and the Cougars pushed forward for an 18-8 win in the eighth.

Redemption for the Pilots came in the top of the third of game four, when Pilots Jordan Landkrohn, Jesse Stout, Trey Delp, and Angel Alica crossed home plate (4-0).

Stout demonstrated excellent base running, taking second to put himself in scoring position following a base hit.

Landkrohn was then walked by the pitcher, and Andrew Dillon grounded out to third to advance both runners.

Angel Alicea capitalized on an error by Mount Vernon's first baseman to get on base, while Stout and Landkrohn both scored (2-0).

Finally Hudson Francis sailed a single to left to bring home Alicea and Trey Delp, who reached base on a walk.

Head Coach Seth Zartman shared, "Our team gathered themselves really well today after the game one loss. We made some good adjustments and we were able to put together a good team win for the final game of the series."

The Bethel Pilots will next face the University of Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, March 3.
