Box Score RIO GRANDE, Ohio--The No. 11 Bethel Pilots (2-1-1) defeated the No. 22 Rio Grande Red Storm (1-1-2) 4-1 at Evan E. Davis Field on Monday afternoon.
The Pilots doubled their goal count since they last faced the Red Storm on Sep. 2nd, 2024, when Bethel claimed a 2-1 victory in Atlanta, Georgia.
Freshman
Noe Ferreira demonstrated offensive consistency, scoring another goal for the Pilots following his Saturday night performance against Cumberland (Tenn.).
Bethel went right to work on labor day, posting an additional two goals in the first half.
Julian Vargas Talamantes, the former 2023 NAIA All-Conference First Team Winner, scored his fourth goal of the season in the 36th minute of the ranked matchup.
Diego Arrieta picked up the assist.
Talamantes also executed his penalty kick goal, granting the Pilots a 3-1 lead at the half.
Freshman
Luca Canto posted the final goal of the afternoon, and his first goal as a Pilot, in the 82nd minute of the game.

I am proud of how guys have been intentional in creating stronger connections off the pitch, and it is translating to our performance on the field. Rio has always been one of the best college teams in the nation, and I am happy for the team to win well there."
The Bethel Pilots will next face the Olivet Nazarene Tigers on their home field on Saturday, Sep. 6th at 3:00 PM for Alumni Night.
