Box Score MISHAWAKA, Ind. –The Bethel Pilots (1-1-0) fell to the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots (1-0-1) on Saturday afternoon on Morey Field.
The Pilots held off the Patriots from scoring in the entire first half of the match.
In the 23rd minute of the game,
Diego Arrieta posted the first defensive save for Bethel.
Goalkeeper
Maarten Schouten showcased amazing defense with three consecutive saves in the final nine minutes of the first half.
Freshman Midfielder
Luca Canto attempted four shots, and had two shots on goal.
Graduate Student
Julian Vargas Talamantes had two shots on goal off of two attempts.
Head Coach
Thiago Pinto shared, "Thought we were dominant for greater stretches of the game and had our chances to win. Tough result in the end, especially with some marginal things that didn't go our way...It was a top ten matchup and good taste of national tournament caliber games."
The Bethel Pilots will have their next matchup on Saturday, August 30th at 11:00 am on the road against the University of Rio Grande.
